50% Off Cards & $3 Off Postage!!

Today only you can save 50% on greeting cards & $3 off postage stamps! Great deals!! I leave all of my greeting cards blank so that you can customize them. I hate going to buy a card & none of them even remotely say what I feel. Here, you can write your own words & Zazzle makes it easy to do so!

Old Rusted Mailbox
This is my friend Angie's mailbox. It's a huge, old thing. It's covered in rust and the paint is oxidized making it some cool colors with blue and purple tones. I shot it with increased saturation and a vignette for a lomo type effect. And you might find this funny, Angie keeps cat food in it :)
Sloths
Once again, I am obsessed as ever with sloths. This card features a mom sloth and her baby sloth and together they're just hanging out in the jungle. These sloths are of the three toed variety. I'm sure the two toed are nice, but I really like the three toed type.
Sleepy Chinchilla
This is Eugene, he was my French Chinchilla. I kept a blog for him wherein he interacted with people and he was "French." He was also a raging alcoholic with a pack a day habit, sometimes more if he was going to the disco. It was a GREAT blog and he was quite popular. Alas, Eugene the French Chinchilla is gone, but he lives on in spirit with this card! He used to like to lay on top of my computer monitor and nap; that's what he's doing here.

Old Radio
This radio is in my dad's garage. It's probably from the 1970's, it's coved in bird poop, it's sort of gross and it's sort of cool at the same time. Again, shot lomo with a heavy vignette.

That's it for today! Don't forget to use code SENDINGTALUV for your discount!

Blue Heelers!

My mom has this crazy dog named Pearly Mae. She's a Blue Heeler, though folks refer to her as an Australian Shepard dog. I mostly just call her Pearl and acknowledge that she's out of her dog mind. The Pearl series has been popular and I'll be sharing some of those items with you today!
Blue Heeler iPad Sleeve
The sleeves at Zazzle are new and they seem to be getting great reception. This sleeve is for an iPad. There are sleeves for MacBooks, laptops and the like and I have a few designs of each.
Blue Heeler Postage Stamps
People love these stamps! There are postcards and greeting cards to go with them. I leave all my greeting cards blank because customers can customize them on the Zazzle site.
Blue Heeler Postcard
Speaking of cards, here is a Pearl postcard. Look at that cheeky face! She looks nuts, huh?

Graffiti Tees

Today I'm featuring three tee shirts with graffiti images that I've shot photos of. Zazzle has 17 different shirt styles for men and the same number for women.

Pink Elephant Tee
Taken in Portland, Oregon, this pink elephant tee shirt is just that. The photo consists of a pink elephant, on a grey brick wall with the words "I could use" and then the last word is just a bunch of blurry paint. I think the idea was to say, "I could use a drink." Which of course would have been a funnier concept if they'd finished it.
Olympia, Washington Graffiti Tee
Taken in Olympia, Washington this graffiti tee features a lot of bright color. Red, blue, green, white, pink, black, gold - it's all represented with the word "beer."

Blue Graffiti Cat
I love this photo. This tee features an orange cat on a two tone, blue brick wall with the tag "kitten." I don't understand the meaning of it at all, but it's a fun picture.

That's it for today! Thanks for stopping by :)

What's Hot This Week...

Today I'm blogging about items that have gotten the top number of hits in my Zazzle store this week.
Welding Coat & Tools Print
My dad is a man's man. He loves his garage, he loves his tools, and he loves his dog. But, what we're focused on here is a photo I took in his garage, and in this case it's the print. I shot this with a lomo/pinhole sort of feel and cross processed it in photoshop. I'm not sure what all of these things are, but I do know that jacket is dad's welding coat and there is his welding helmet. This is also available as postcards, greeting cards, magnets, and so on.
Rockabilly Style Painted Skull Cases
These possum skulls are getting some notice. Yay! Super creepy, and yet cool, this skull features a red heart, a purple flower, and lots of colorful design. There's the skull wearing his fedora and his Kewpie doll, face painted lady friend. There are so many themes painted in this piece. It's rockabilly, psychobilly, retro, vintage, 1940's, finger-waves meets Day of the Dead, Southwest Americana. Available on iphone, ipod, ipad cases; cards, postage stamps, tee shirts, and so on.
Pink Bunny Cases
These bunny cases are too cute. I took a background of green with blue and pink rings, and shot the photo with a ceramic, pink bunny rabbit. Saturated the color to death and posted it on Zazzle. Available mostly as cases for BlackBerry, Samsung Galaxy, ipod, ipad, iphone.

That's it for today. I have a photo shoot tonight, so I must get ready! As always, thanks for stopping by and thank you very much for your business :)

Psychobilly Meets Day of the Dead Skull - Part II

Last night I wrapped up my skull series in Zazzle. I really like how everything turned out.

Psychobilly Meets Day of the Dead Skull Messenger Bag
This was my first go at one of the new Messenger Bags that Zazzle is carrying. On the front flap I put a photo of the skull and on the back pannel of the bag there is a larger one. You can scroll through the photos of the angles in Zazzle to see front and back. I then set everything up to print on black with red piping.

MacBook Pro Sleeve
Same thing with this sleeve, there's a skull on the back, a smaller skull on the front, and I've set the design to print black and red. This sleeve holds either the MacBook or the MacBook Pro.

Psychobilly Meets Day of the Dead Skull Gallery Wrapped Canvas
And of course, I put the skull on canvas. Plus, there still 60% off with code 60CANVASDEAL.

Thanks for stopping by and thanks for the business!

Psychobilly Meets Day of the Dead Skull

I am really, really excited about my Psychobilly Meets Day of the Dead series. It's a possum skull, painted in mixed themes of psychobilly, rockabilly, retro, pinup, & vintage. The artwork features a skull wearing a fedora & his pinup girlfriend with the painted Kewpie doll face. A bright red heart, a purple flower, & lots of bright, colorful detail that make this piece awesome & creepy! I did a series of photos on this piece & I'm not sure how many of them will make it into my Zazzle store, but this is the first!

iPhone Case
There are actually 7 iPhone case styles on my site, for the iphone. If this isn't a case that fits yours, have a look around, you're bound to find one that does work. There are also cases for the Samsung Galaxy and BlackBerry.

Psychobilly Meets Day of the Dead Skull
At the moment, I've also got a tee shirt up for this design. Tees on Zazzle can be customized to men, women, and children. I just happened to put this one on a female model. Roughly 115 styles to choose from, and a multitude of colors - there's something for everyone!

While at the moment there are only cell cases and tees available, I am adding this design to more products throughout today and this week. I am really excited about this line!

Maneki Neko - Japanese Lucky Cat!

I'm pretty fond of my Maneki Neko that I keep in the house. Granted, he's yet to bring me any wealth. Maybe I should buy more? Well, until I decide, here are some items featuring Maneki Neko...

Maneki Neko ~ Ladies Tee
I have this tee shirt set up to print on a ladies tee, but shirts at Zazzle are customizable. You can customize them for men, women, and children. You can add text, or leave it just as I've set it to print. There are lots of colors, and styles like ringers and jersey style, long sleeve and short.
Maneki Neko ~ Speakers
I love these speakers! Speakers like this are perfect for your office, study, kitchen, bedroom, dorm room - anywhere you want some music without lugging around a stereo. Just plug in your iPod, or mp3 player (anything with a 3.5mm headphone jack) and your set to take your tunes anywhere!

Japanese Lucky Cat Coffee Mugs
I love this mug too. White mug, black piping on rim and handle, photo set to print circumference of mug and it's customizable. You can change the style, piping colors, and add text. I like seeing something this bright and happy in the morning. Helps wake me up!

Creepy!

I've been doing ok with my Mortuary collection of items on Zazzle. It's definitely a one of a kind category and my store has the market cornered on it, but I'd like to drive some more business. So, here are three items with some history...

iPhone Flesh Colored Face Powder Case

So, I have a collection of mortuary stuff, embalming materials and the like. There's also a ton of makeup, this of course, being one of the jars - Flesh Colored Face Powder. Seriously, it's just a jar of heavy face powder, like theater makeup. This jar probably dates back to the 1940's; it's a very cool jar. Anyway, I've got these on cases for the iphone 3 & 4; and of course when it gets here, the iPhone 5. There are also cases for the iPod, iPad, BlackBerry cell phone and Samsung Galaxy cell phone.

Liquid Rouge iPad Case

This is for an iPad case, it's Liquid Rouge, or liquid blush. Liquid items don't work very well on the deceased, you don't want to stain skin. Today a mortician would use powdered blush. Again, super old bottle, probably also from the 1940's.
iPad Embalming Pump

This gets tons of hits, I think many folks are genuinely curious about this piece. Back in the old days embalmers used hand pumps for embalming. Today, machines are used. The hand pump I shot for this photo came with the case it's pictured with, a number of arterial tubes, and a bunch of old rubber tubes.

My Mortuary collection is ok sized right now. I do have more pieces to add and some things to reshoot. But if you are a funeral director, embalmer, mortician, someone interested in the afterlife - these are all awesome products to check out. Totally 1 of a kind :)

And don't for get to check sales! Most cases are 20% off with sale code: ZMOBILECASES

I LOVE Weekends!

And you know what else I love? Hanging out in my dad's garage. Always have. Even since I was little, I just like hanging out in the garage. My dad does a lot of woodwork, hot rod restoration, pissing around - I'm sure you get the general idea. But I like how it smells in the garage, and I like how relaxed my dad is when he's working on a project, I like how he explains things to me when I've got 6 million questions, and I like how he leaves me to myself so I can photograph his things.

Welding Coat & Tools Print
This is one of my favorite photos, it's my dad's welding coat and helmet. I added a touch of cross process green to the photo and went heavy on the vignette. I featured the print here. I've ordered prints from Zazzle and I've always been very happy. I print all my show pieces on the archival heavyweight paper. It's a touch extra, but the quality is worth it and it's pretty paper.

Same photo, but it's a magnet this time. The magnet has been really popular.

And just to mix things up a bit, here's a coffee mug featuring a photo I took of my dad's welding box. It would be a good combination gift, I think.

So, there are a couple examples of what you can find in Dad's Garage. I know Father's Day isn't until June, but there are some great items in here that would make excellent gifts for any guy for any reason. There are blank greeting cards that you can customize. You could make a birthday card for your dad, husband, brother, boyfriend...There's postcards too and matching stamps if you just want something a little manly to mail. But seriously, if you're looking for a gift for a guy, who maybe likes to hang out in garages, give my store a shot!

Zazzle Sale!

Zazzle has a coupon page! And since Zazzle is almost always running a special, it gets updated a lot. Right now I'm super excited that they have canvas on sale at 60% off again. I've blogged before that I love putting my prints on canvas; the colors are always so nice and a lot of my work looks even better with the added texture.

I put up two new pieces of graffiti this week. This first one was shot in downtown Olympia, Washington. Downtown you'll find most of the backs of buildings and alleys are covered in paint, and some of it is good. I liked this particular shot because of all the bright colors in it and the heavy saturation of green, red, blue, pink, and black colors.

This Pink Graffiti Elephant is definitely a favorite. I like elephants, I like pink, and I like this photo. There's some black spray paint writing in the photo. I think it says, "I could use a drink" but I'm not positive. Anyway, this was shot in Portland, Oregon on Belmont Street.

So make sure you stop by mollymortphotography and check the rest of my canvas prints, I have a little of everything represented and you're sure to find something!

What I used to do...

I used to work as a mortician. I mostly worked with families, but I trained to work with the deceased as well. I'd always been interested in the funeral industry and that interest spawned a collection of embalming tools. It's gotten to be an expensive hobby and some items have become rare in the market place. In collecting, I was fortunate enough to gain two embalming kits, both span from the 1900's to the 1960's. And let me tell you, everything is in these kits. I have hand pumps, suture needles, aspirators, scalpels, makeup, eye caps - it's a long list. So anyway, knowing there's an interest in these items, I photographed most of them and added the work to my Zazzle site under "The Mortuary." It gets a lot of hits, but of course, I could use more.

I love this funeral director, mortician style calendar. Each month has a different photograph and the US holidays are listed in it. A friend suggested that next year I add captions explaining what the tools are and for 2013, I will do that. I forgot to consider the purpose of some of these items isn't obvious.

This iPad case has been really popular. It's from an old bottle of embalming fluid.

This card has been super popular too. It's a collection of suture needles and tiny aspirating needles.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to shooting some photos for next years calendar and adding captions. I came up with this idea a little late in the year and had low sales on it. The goal is to move up production on it this year and sell the heck out of them. I have the market cornered on mortician tools!

So, if you haven't stopped by my shop, please do: mollymortphotography @ Zazzle. I've worked very hard on making it look cool and I've put a lot of heart into my designs.

Oh! And! Here's a code good for 30% off a calendar (hint hint): ALLCALENDARS

Have I Mentioned I'm Super Obsessed With Sloths?

All I can think about is sloths! Especially three toed sloths. I'm not sure why, but between the two and three toed varieties, I like the three toed better. Something about that extra toe I suppose. Recently, there was a television show on called "Too Cute Baby Sloths." Did you watch it? It was amazing! These little creatures are just fascinating, cute, noisy, and curious! I like that they make "meep" sounds. At any rate, my obsession goes so far that I talked my dad into painting me a sloth portrait. It's the cutest thing you have ever seen. He let me photograph it and then use the artwork for my Zazzle site. So, right now I've got it on about 27 products and electronic cases are included.

Here's an iPad case featuring my sloth painting. There's a mom sloth (hey!) and a baby sloth (hey!) and they are of the three toed variety. There are iPod cases, iPhone cases, iPad cases, BlackBerry cases, and Samsung cases. They are super cute and if you hurry, you can get 20% off for a limited time with code ZMOBILECASES!

1,000 Products!

Today, I created my 1,000th product. And let me tell you, it felt great!

I've been a Zazzle member since July of 2009 and in that time I have created my store and torn it down countless times. I have doubted my work, I have loved my work, I have even sold some of my work.

Overall, considering my earliest efforts were almost all flowers, I think the max number of products I had ever posted has been in the 700 range. So 1,000 was a real milestone for me. I'm currently happy with how I have my Zazzle store arranged and I have some ideas on how to make it better. At the moment I have 77 designs and I'm excited to create more. Mostly I just really proud to have reached this milestone. So, let me share with you lucky number 1,000!

I wasn't a Nirvana fan while they were popular. But, I've come to enjoy them over the years. I appreciate that they were basically three unknown guys who made it big and created a catalogue of music that still stands up today. I was in my early twenty's when Come As You Are came out and the song takes me back to a time in life I enjoyed. So getting the chance to photograph the Welcome to Aberdeen sign was pretty enjoyable for me. So, there you have it, my 1,000th piece :)

Yikes!

Looks like postage rates are going up again. Effective January 22, the cost of a first class stamp will be .45 cents. Over at Zazzle, you can of course, create your own stamp. Though they do cost more than buying a book of stamps at the store, the cost of these stamps helps supports the artists creating them. Here are some of my favorites that I have created.

This is my most popular stamp. It's a photo of an old radio that sits in my dad's garage. It's covered in spider webs, bird poop, gunk - it's super gross and I don't even know if it works, but it made a great picture! I shot it lomo style, I wanted to give it an aged retro look.

My next most popular stamp is a little creepy, it's an antique hand pump used for embalming. I can explain...you see, I used to work as a mortician and over the years I collected items like this; the value in antique funerary items never goes down. My collection of embalming items is quite large and it's an amazing conversation piece. I have a whole section of my store devoted to the funeral service, it's The Mortuary. Even for the historical aspect of it, it's worth a look! I think I'll super promote it come Halloween!

My third most popular stamp, the Happy Blue Heeler. This is Pearly Mae, she's my mom's dog and she's about as goofy as they get. This dog has no interest in anything - nothing! Except, snow. She doesn't want to play in water, she doesn't want to go outside, she doesn't want to do anything that will interup her day. But if there's snow, that dog is a burrowing fool. She's horribly sweet and she's super easy to photography; she is interested in what I'm doing. I think she thinks she's going to get something out of it.

I do have more stamps, those are just the highlights. And when you buy my stamps, or any of my products, you're supporting a small, one person venture where every little bit counts and I really appreciate any business I get. And I hope you appreciate the Zazzle items you order :)

Last Day for Canvas Sale!

Today marks the last day for the 60% off canvas sale over at Zazzle. The offer is so good, I ordered two more piece last night for an art show in April. Check them out!

Great picture, gorgeous flower, the bokeh in the background is perfect! Also known as the Japonica, the Quince flower is a actually a shrub. I bet it makes a pretty hedge.

I took this photo in downtown Portland, it's actually the building that houses the Montage Bistro. I love the brick, the blackened mortar, the emergency staircase - I just thought it was a nice classic shot.

If I haven't stressed it before, I'll say it again, 60% off canvas is HUGE! Plus, Zazzle does great work in a timely manner. Or if you just want to have a look around, you can head over to my Zazzle page and do just that, at mollymortphotography. Almost forgot the discount code: 60CANVASDEAL.

Thanks for the business & have a great day!

Canvas Sale & More!

I've been busy this past week putting new items up on Zazzle.  I'm currently at 72 designs on around 900 products. Alas, I'm still a small fish in a big, big sea. But I want to make sure everything is up to par, and one of my favorite things that I like to be careful about is what I put on canvas. I've ordered a number of my photographs on canvas for art shows and the results I get from Zazzle are always perfect. Good, quality craftsmanship on ready to hang pieces. Even better? Right now, through Thursday, January 12 they are having 60% off on canvas prints. In case you don't know, that is one HUGE savings.

At the moment, this old radio is one of my favorite pieces. I shot the photo aiming for a pinhole effect, there's vignetting on the edges, an effect I'm fond of. There are some spiderwebs, bird poop (gross, right?), and the thing is dirty as all hell. I don't even know if it works. But, it is a cool looking, old yellow radio and it prints beautifully.

I just ordered this one the beginning of the year, it's going in art show I'm doing in April. Maybe you've heard of it? Arts Walk in Olympia, Washington? Should be fun. At any rate, I shot this photo with a Raynox 250 lens. It's a super up close, not exactly true macro photo, and the depth of field is shallow, but what a wonderful photo. The red is so vibrant and the green stem is detailed with little pricklers (is that even a word??) - it's absolutely gorgeous.

My last choice for this blog is this canvas piece, United States Flag. While I haven't ordered this on canvas, I have ordered it on postcards and again, beautiful work from Zazzle. This is a field flag at a VA hospital in Michigan. The sky was really whited out the day I took this, so I just let it be, but I added the grunge to it to give it some texture and it turned out awesome. If you're a patriotic person, or a fan of Americana in general, this would be a nice canvas piece to display in your home.

Again, 60% off canvas prints, at Zazzle, sale good through Thursday, 1/12.
And you'll need this code: 60CANVASDEAL

Thank you for your business!

Well, not just Blue Heeler coffee mugs, all mugs and tees are 20% off. But this picture of Pearl, my mom's Blue Heeler, is just too cute not to feature. So, if you love Blue Heelers, I'm sure to have something special for you! Use code: PHOTOMOMENTS to get your 20% off!
